It's hard to believe that it's been since last November that we posted on this blog! What a crazy couple of months it's been. Since the last post, we spent the end of the year gearing up for our big Opera Ball in Janaury - only to have the worst of last minute calamities when Mikele's (Managing Director of PRO) daughter was hit by a drunk driver the Friday before. The good news is that Mikele's daughter is recovering better than anticipated, despite receiving a major head injury. Kudos have to go to Carolyn Mason (Marketing Associate), who took over the ball, with great success. Since then, James Stahlman (second place scholarship recipient in the college division, and one of Jill's singing students, who coincidentally has an arts administrative background!) has been running the office amazingly well.
Now for upcoming stuff! We've assembled an amazing cast of singers for Carmen, which opens this Friday! And I'm pleased to say that tickets are selling fast, so if you want a good seat, you'd best move quickly! Our Carmen, Edith Dowd, has several years experience singing with New York City Opera - unquestionably the best experienced singer we've had the pleasure to bring to the PAC. Our stage director, Tanya Kane-Parry, comes to us from LA Opera - the first time we've had a stage director of this stature. I believe that this production will be a first in many ways - come and see!
