For the first time in many years, one of our operas was finally reviewed by the local paper! See The Tribune's review at http://www.sanluisobispo.com/151/story/324876.html.
Many of you will know that I am a real newcomer to opera, and so I am still amazed at every performance at the depth and clarity of our singer's voices. I can finally say that I "get it!" It was just last year at our La Traviata - during the amazing death scene, I found myself so wrapped up in the glorious singing and music that I just couldn't wait for our next opera!
Our next event is coming up quickly- A Gourmet Soiree - our annual dinner concert at the Monday Club. A great singing line up, and an incredible menu, all with a French twist. This event typically sells out, so make sure to get your tickets early. For more details, check our website!

Opening night
Last night's opening of Carmen went without a hitch, thanks to the efforts of all involved. What a wonderful production! Visually stark (in my opinion) and musically lavish - amazing.
We would love to hear your opinions!

Children's Matinee

Yesterday we opened the PAC doors to approximately 900 children and 200 adults for a matinee for area 5th & 6th graders. Thanks to the generous support from the Avalon Foundation and Bert & Candee Forbes, we were able to not only offer the tickets at a reduced price, but also offer free busing to and from the event. The children were first visited in their schools by Judith Dunlore, who provided background and storyline. When Judith went on stage before the opera began to welcome them, the children welcomed her very enthusiastically - then quieted down for the performance. The first two acts were presented - both in the interest of time and due to the somewhat violent nature of the closing act. Teachers were provided with the last act storyline, and given the opportunity to brief their students as they wanted to.
